The Maragoli trust is a non-profit organisation that provides sponsored placements for high school learners with extraordinary commitment, talent, and potential. The learners go through a selection programme and they are then assisted with the cost of education to ensure they reach their full potential. The Maragoli trust is a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) that assists other organisations, which dedicate their social investment towards education, with the all the legally required support (BEE certification and tax-deductible donations) to ensure that as many young talents as possible can be developed in our high-quality education environment.
Through our partnership with independents schools, we provide schools that are reliant on government grants with the necessary management and business support in order to fast track their development. We equitably share all our standards, academic quality and controls, and access to facilities and group activities that empower the schools. The agreements are structured as support mechanisms that focus on school management and academic support.
Operating as a BEE investment vehicle, Shalamuka Capital was started in 2008, when the Shalamuka Foundation was looking to invest in private equity and partnered with RMB Corvest.

The funding received by the Shalamuka Foundation from Shalamuka Capital is used to facilitate the growth of the Penreach programme and ultimately to improve the lives of the children and educators of South Africa. Penreach is a non-profit, in-service educational development-training programme that was developed to improve the teaching skills of qualified and unqualified educators, and generally to improve their schools in and around the Mpumalanga region. Through the efforts of Shalamuka Capital and its involvement in Penreach, more than 2000 teachers, 900 schools, and in excess of 350 000 learners a year are reached by and benefit from Penreach.
